The long version: where the years went, what I work with, and how to reach me.

01Summary

The short version

I’ve spent more than fifteen years building web software: interfaces, the services behind them, and the platforms they run on. Frontend is still where I am pickiest, design systems and CSS included, but the recent years were full-stack in practice. APIs, releases, and keeping production visible.

Angular and TypeScript on the UI. Node.js services. Kubernetes with Helm and ArgoCD, plus Postgres, Redis and Elasticsearch when the data needed it. More recently I have been working with LLMs: local models, system prompts, seeing what actually helps a workflow.

Where the years went

  1. 2026 - Present

    Senior Full-Stack Engineer, HiveMQ Edge

    HiveMQRemote, Germany

    From September 2026. HiveMQ Edge is the gateway that sits at the bottom of the stack on a factory floor. It speaks OPC-UA, Modbus, Siemens and BACnet to the machines, and MQTT to everything above them. Open-source core, commercial edition on top.

    Open-source libraries

    Checkboxes, modals, mega-menus, a video player and a responsive email toolkit. Six libraries, still in other people’s products.

  4. 2011 - 2017

    Freelance frontend development

    ElanceUpworkiQuestGlobal Rescue

    Six years of freelance and contract frontend work before the Hamburg years: early jobs on Elance and Upwork, a senior stint at iQuest, then in-house frontend work at Global Rescue in Islamabad.

What the recent years involved

  1. 01

    AI integration

    POC on Ollama and LangChain for transaction review: structured evaluation, nothing sensitive leaving the cluster. Chat and analysis in the product, with domain prompts and retrieval.

  2. 02

    Frontend architecture

    Angular apps on NgRx and RxJS, and the shared component system under them. Grafana Faro on those apps, so frontend performance lived in the same Grafana stack as everything else.

  3. 03

    Backend and system architecture

    Node.js services in NestJS and Express, APIs for high-volume transaction work. Moved auth and user management onto Amazon Cognito: JWT, SSO, one identity model across the frontend and the microservices.

  4. 04

    Platform and reliability

    Kubernetes deployments through Helm, CI/CD pipelines that made releases boring, Tilt-based local environments so the whole stack ran on one machine, and an observability stack on Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
