About

A frontend developer in love with the design

That has been my GitHub bio for years, and it is still the most accurate description of how I work. I write the backend and run the platform too — the reason I do is so the interface on top of them can be good.

01Summary

Ten years of this

I am a senior full-stack engineer with more than ten years of building scalable web applications, specialising in frontend architecture, modern CSS and developer experience. Most of that has gone into maintainable design systems and interfaces that stay fast and behave properly under real load.

Deep frontend work — Angular, TypeScript, NgRx — combined with backend and platform experience in Node.js and Kubernetes. More recently I have been building LLM-powered features into production products: chat interfaces and fraud-analysis workflows running on local models, so nothing sensitive has to leave the infrastructure it started in.

02Experience

Where the years went

  1. 2026 —

The next chapter to be announced

A new company, starting this autumn.

  2. 2017 — 2026

Senior Full-Stack Engineer / Frontend Tech Lead

    RiskIdent · Hamburg

Nine years growing alongside a fraud-detection platform as it became enterprise infrastructure. Started in the frontend; ended up working across architecture, backend, platform and, latterly, applied AI.

  3. 2017 — 2019

    Open-source libraries

    Independent

Checkboxes, modals, mega-menus, a video player and a responsive email toolkit. Six libraries, still in other people’s products.

What the nine years at RiskIdent involved

  1. 01

    AI integration

Built an MVP on Ollama and LangChain for fraud-analysis workflows — structured transaction evaluation with nothing sensitive leaving our own infrastructure. Shipped chat and analysis interfaces into the core products so teams could explore fraud signals in natural language, designed the domain-specific system prompts behind them, and used retrieval-augmented search to keep answers relevant.

  2. 02

    Frontend architecture

Architected Angular applications on NgRx and RxJS for complex real-time workflows, built the reusable component systems underneath them, and added Grafana Faro so frontend performance was something the team could see rather than guess at.

  3. 03

    Backend and system architecture

Node.js services in NestJS and Express on modular architecture, APIs carrying high-volume transaction workflows, and the migration of authentication and user management to Amazon Cognito — JWT flows, SSO, and one identity model across the frontend and every microservice.

  4. 04

    Platform and reliability

Kubernetes deployments through Helm and ArgoCD, CI/CD pipelines that made releases boring, Tilt-based local environments so a new hire could run the whole stack, and an observability stack on Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
